Starting a new health plan, a wealth plan etc, etc, requires time and patience and maybe a little bit of money.
You may see little results in the beginning... but little by little you BUILD momentum. Results start to show and accumulate.
The same principle applies to consistent chiropractic adjustments!
Your
body functions and heals more efficiently.. with time and repetition
you begin to feel clearer and feel better. The healthier days begin to
outnumber the unhealthy days...
The Chiropractic Minute #8: How Do You View Your Health?
85 to 90% of our NERVE SYSTEM we DO NOT FEEL!
Society, TV, etc mostly focus on the 10%. This is a dangerous indicator
of health.
Keep this in mind.. as you go through
your week. Pursue activities that make the body stronger!! How you feel
may not be the best indicator of "how am I doing".
A video classic. "What is Chiropractic" Short and sweet.. under 2 minutes.
I
know what you're saying... how can pushing on back bones affect how I
function 'inside'.. immunity, digestion, sleep, organ functions, stress
reduction? The adjustment CLEARS the connection between your brain and
body.. Powerful Stuff!! As a matter of fact, the FIRST adjustment in
1895 had NOTHING to do with back pain!

When Structure changes ... so does the Function!
When you put a
suitcase on top of your car, you have altered (temporarily at least)
the structure of your car, affecting its weight, its wind
resistance, its gas mileage, its brake distance, its tire wear, etc.
A vertebral subluxation is a
change in structure of the spine that affects the function of the nerve
system. It causes altered spinal biomechanics, abnormal body
function,it drains energy, and can cause many other problems. The only
thing left is to determine how long you are willing to tolerate this
altered function for yourself, your friends, and love ones.
- - - - - - - - - - -
Think of it
this way . .would you use a tennis racket to play golf? Of course not.
Structure affects function. . . always. Alter the structure of the
spine and you alter the functions of the body.
Chiropractic works on structure to restore function!!
As we move through the summer, let's focus our attention
on - what we want , not what we don't want. Let's focus on health,
success, prosperity, abundance for ourselves and our loved ones.
There are things we can control and there are things we cannot control.
Let's focus on what we can control: What we eat, what we wear, how we think, whether we exercise or not, what we read, to name a few.
What we cannot control: The weather, other people's behavior, what other people think and say. We definitely can come up with more examples.
When you come into my office, I put my attention and focus on two things, you and your spine, and I know that after an adjustment your entire body is working - better! It's that simple.
By now we're all familiar with the expression, "Can you hear me now?"
And
who didn't chuckle at the brilliant advertising that saw the husband
mistakenly bring home Charo (of "cuchi-cuchi" fame) because of poor
cell reception.
Lack of communication leads to confusion and discord.
The phrase, "Can you hear me now?" as a measure of the quality of communication
that is occurring seems the perfect slogan for chiropractic in as much
as the objective of the adjustment is to restore proper communication
within the body.
When spinal bones misalign and disrupt nerve system function, what is known as a vertebral subluxation, they create the same situation that occurs when you have a poor signal on your cell phone.
The
cells, tissues, and organs of your body can't function the way they
were intended if they are not receiving proper direction from the
brain. This leads to disharmony, imbalance, and disorganization.
Chiropractors
identify these areas and correct them, so that harmony can be
restored, balance can be achieved, and the workings of the infinite
wisdom of the body can return you to a state of organization.
Why this is office is different is based upon my objective.
My objective is to analyze, locate and adjust Vertebral Subluxations. Why? Simply because they, in and of themselves, interfere with the expression of LIFE!
That is it, nothing more, nothing less.
Medical insurance, X-Rays, physical therapy or nutritional supplements are NOT needed to SAFELY perform the chiropractic adjustment and that is WHY I do not do them here.
My personal mission is to share Chiropractic with as many people humanly possible and to teach that health and life come from the inside out. The only way to achieve this is to have a fee system that reflects this mission. I make my fees very affordable so anyone at any time can receive quality chiropractic care.
Another difference is that no appointments are necessary! This is a great feature in our busy lives! I put a calender out each month with days and time that the office is open.
Recap;
NO Insurance needed
NO appointments
NO one selling you anything
NO therapies
NO x-rays
NO waiting (10 minutes tops)
Just pure straight Chiropractic at its best...
It is incredible what they can do.... emails, texts, weather, facebook, twitter feeds, pandora music, movies, youtube videos, get an instant score on that college football game, video camera, regular camera, apps and apps, etc,.. oh, and I forgot, it's a phone too!
But, what happens when you lose that connection?! Frustrating? You know what I mean. Everything is working fine, then all of a sudden, bamm . . what happened? Calls get dropped or the other person's voice is not CLEAR or that text doesn't go through, etc..
And that's the word - CLEAR. You lost that clear connection between the phone and the cell tower! Sure, the phone can still work, but it doesn't function the way it was designed to, or function the best that it can. Without a clear connection it just may not work at all!!
Our bodies work in similar way. We need a clear connection between the brain and body! Its our nerve system that is responsible for this connection. All of our cells, tissues, and organs depend upon this vital connection to function properly. Spinal misalignments called vertebral subluxations interfere with the nerve system. When this happens, the connection is just not as CLEAR as it can be! Sure, we still function, but not the best that we can. This nerve connection is vital to LIFE!
The chiropractic adjustment will help keep this connection clear so that your body systems do not experience any dropped calls!
“A Universal Intelligence is in all matter and continually gives to it all its properties and actions, thus maintaining it in existence.” No, its not new age and its not about religion. This is the Major Premise, in chiropractic, the starting point. the first principle. This principle is the foundation for chiropractic philosophy. In Chiropractic, we define Universal Intelligence as the Law or Principle of Organization on an atomic level. Science acknowledges that all matter is made up of atoms. Universal Intelligence is the principle of organization that maintains these atoms. When we look at matter, the first observable fact is that wherever there is organization there is intelligence. Observing the vast expanse of the Universe to the electron microscope we see organization. The planets do not whirl about the galaxy in a random manner. There is an orderliness about them. Our own planet has such order to its movement that we keep track of time by it. Days, months, and seasons are determined by the orderly movement of the Earth.
Organization bespeaks intelligence. That organization even demonstrates itself in the orderly movement of atomic particles, protons and electrons. The orderliness of the atom indicates intelligence. Every atom, whether an oxygen, hydrogen, or uranium demonstrates the same principle of organization. So, we say that all matter expresses Universal Intelligence or “there is a universal intelligence in all matter”
Thoreau gives what may be the best example of the existence of universal intelligence principle of organization. Suppose you were walking down the street and you found a watch lying on the ground. You had never seen a watch before. You look at it and see that one of the hands moves in steady manner and being curious you play with it and the back fall off. Inside are little gears, springs, and metal parts moving in an organized Manner. Would you conclude the watch just happened by accident? Of course you would not. Any person of sound mind would logically conclude that some intelligent being formed the parts and organized them into a functioning unit. The Universe, the human body, and the atom are much more intricate than a pocket watch. We conclude that “there is a universal intelligence in all matter.”

*PAY YOURSELF FIRST! Talk to any financial guru,
read any books about financial freedom, talk to most wealthy people,
and they will ALL share with you a 'principle' that contributed greatly
to their wealth. They always pay themselves first. The usual number is around 10%. They gradually build up their assests over time.
Of course, its easier said then done!
BUT, no matter what our finanancial situation, WE can APPLY this PRINCIPLE to our HEALTH!!
Truth
- Every week we are
either getting stronger or weaker. It's part of life and there is no getting
around it. The stresses of life are here to stay. We need to increase
our 'Resilience', which is our ability to adapt to the every day stresses of
life, whether they are
physical, emotional, chemical, etc..
Truth - We are NOT told what health is, we are told what the ABSCENCE of health is -- which is disease, dysfunction, unhappiness.
Health
is simply your body's ability to adapt to the stresses of the internal
and external environment in which we exist. The better we adapt the
stronger we are. The failure to adapt the more health goes away.
This idea that 'if it ain;t broke, don't fix it" is dangerous when it comes to our body.
Please,
don't get me wrong. There are health nuts out there who dont' live
long, and then there are sedentary people who live long lives. BUT, as a society,we
are not doing well. Diseases like cancer, diabetes, alzheimers,
MS, fibromyalgia, etc, etc, etc are more prevelant today than ever
before. Why? I don't know.. But WHY not PAY yourself first!!!
*Pay yourself first -every week,or day, make a deposit in your health bank account!!. It
doesn't matter what it is, stretching, water, more veggies, a 10 minute
walk, a little yoga or Tai Chi .etc, etc,
PLEASE don't tell me WE
don't have 10 to 20 minutes a day!! WE have to schedule it. To Pay
yourself first, we have to schedule our weekly activities IN
advance!
Schedule your weekly adjustment - in advance!!
Think about it.... My video about health discusses this idea .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBdSuebQjhA

The Adjustment . . . keeping it real, keeping it simple. . . 7/2010
Monday, July 19, 2010
Want to Feel and Function Better? The Law of Persistence says . . . . . .
When is comes to building health . . persist, persist, persist. . do not give up. It is NOT an overnight thing.
Even just Ten (10) minutes a day. . can make a difference in the long term.
What can we do in just 10 minutes? How about stretch, deep breathing exercises, yoga exercises, pushups and pullups, walk, drink water, etc.
It's the little things that can make a big difference over the long haul
Oh, and of course, get an adjustment!
Getting an adjustment in this office only takes a few minutes but will make a huge difference in your long term health.

Consistency
If you want the best results in life. . . be consistent! We always get the consequences of our actions. Health happens by choice, not chance.
The human body requires necessary maintenance for health. If these needs are not met, one has to expect problems. These needs include sleep, food, exercise, chiropractic, positive mental attitude, spirituality, etc. It has become trendy and cool to neglect your body and even do things that are harmful. Most people neglect their bodies most of their lives and then complain and feel angry when their bodies begin to fall apart at the young age of 40, 50 ,or 60, when that simply was the consequence of their actions.
Generally, we are responsible for the results in our lives. I say . . .break the cycle. Understand, anything that makes the body stronger is an important investment in life. You may have 5 houses, 3 cars, but you will only have one body and it doesn't come with replaceable parts. Keep things simple. Find fun ways to cook healthy foods. Get rest each night and in the day if possible. Find a fun exercise program that you can do consistently 2-4 times a week.
Be as consistent as possible and you will experience positive changes in your life!

This was sent out to my practice members 4th of July weekend. ----------------------------------------------------------
Hey Dr. Scott. . what's up with the Happy Choices day?
Well, with independence comes freedom. . the right to pursue life, liberty and whatever make you happy! With freedom comes choices . . .the freedom to choose what you want in your life, etc, etc.
But, be careful, because there are so many choices and for some people that can be a challenge.
Choices like; - what to eat for dinner - what to wear - what to drink - what to watch on TV - what channel to watch - where to live - what to be when I grow up. - should I exercise today or tomorrow - should I get adjusted - etc, etc, etc,
Amazing, isn't it! And I can go on and on.
So how do we manage all of these choices in a FREE society? Concepts like - what do you value most, prioritizing your goals, focusing on your goals and taking action.
These are just a few and I know we can come up with more principles.
So, take the time this weekend to let go and wup it up, haha. Then get back to what you value most and focus so that the daily choices we make serve you and your family.
Let this weekend remind us that we have the freedom to wup it up when we want to and then we have the freedom to choose a healthy lifestyle!
As we enter the second half of the year, re-choose a healthy lifestyle just like we do at the beginning of the year with our resolutions. Keep it simple to start - eat better, exercise a little more, keep positive, rest, and get your spine checked for nerve interference(subluxations).
Realize that every choice we make either move us toward health or away from health. Please choose wisely!
Can You Fix Me . . .Doc?
Is there really a fix when it comes to your body? When we feel better from a cold or an injury. . are we fixed? If we take a drug for an ailment and feel better . . did the drug fix you? If you feel better after an adjustment, are you fixed? My answer is "It all depends on your personal definition of fixing". If 'fix' to you is feeling better, than yes, you can be fixed.
In my opinion, there is no such thing as fixing the body. Sorry. We have to move away from this dangerous idea that you can go to a doctor and take a pill, or get one adjustment, etc., and expect a fix. Of course, you can feel better, but the body is a dynamic organism. The human body does not stop and everyday we are subjected to physical, chemical and emotional stresses of life.
Please do not misunderstand this point. One of the definitions of 'fixed' is to repair or restore by replacing a part or putting together what is torn or broken. The body can be repaired but the body is always in a continuous state of change! A machine can be fixed. You replace the part, and whammo, it is working again perfectly. It's entirely different with our body. There are too many variables (parts). Our bodies require much more daily attention and maintenance compared to machines even when we feel GREAT!
Also, how you feel on a day to day basis is not a strong indicator of how healthy you are. Our bodies are simply adapting to everything we do every second of our life.. You can feel miserable one day and great the next. Of course you need to pay attention to your body but don't mistake feeling good for fixed and not feeling good to - broken.
There is another aspect to this - "If it's not broke, don't fix it". This philosophy is dangerous when it comes to our bodies. This is saying "there is nothing wrong with me, I feel fine" Most vertebral subluxations are not felt. Does that mean that you are fine? No, you may feel fine, but you have a misaligned vertebra interfering with the proper function of the nerve system. The inborn wisdom of your body, which controls and coordinates the function of every cell in the body, is not free to do its job. That's why its important to get you spine checked at least weekly because most of the nerves are not felt and you really do not know when you are subluxated.
Perhaps we need a major change in our attitude. Perhaps we need to focus on what causes health, what causes proper body function, what causes increased performance on a mental, physical and emotional level. It's really rather simple: eating right, getting regular exercise, maintaining a nerve system free of interference (regular visits to your chiropractor) and having a positive mental attitude.

Check out this cool website - chiromatrix.com
Hello everyone,
Here is a link to a website that can show you how vertebral subluxations can potentially effect certain organs and body parts.
Just a few things to keep in mind. First, everyone of us is 'wired' differently. So the website gives us a general idea where the nerve goes. No two people are wired the same! Yes, we all have 2 eyes, 2 ears but no two faces are exactly the same.
The second thing is that most nerves leaving the spine serve multiple organs and parts. So we really do not know which part of a nerve and which organ is affected by the subluxations. What we do know is that when misalignments (subluxations) happen, these organs and tissues will not functions the best that they can. This effects the entire body to some degree. This site does give us an idea how complex the nerve system is and how it affects the function of every part of the body.
Here are some important questions to think about: Which of these organs and parts can you (and your family members) afford to have deprived of a good nerve supply and working incorrectly as a result of nerve interference and for how long? What do you think will happen to these organs if you (and your loved ones) walk around subluxated?
If you (and your family) are interested in maximum health and getting the most out of life, you really cannot afford to have any part of your body deprived of a good nerve supply. The only way you can insure that there are no vertebral subluxations interfering with your body's ability to be all you can be is to have your spine checked regularly and adjusted as needed.
This is an article I wrote for a local periodical.
-------------------- Your Health: Less or More?
When it comes to health, what are you hoping for? Less struggle? Less disease? Less risk? Less symptoms? Or . . More opportunities? More health!!? More energy? More vitality? More flexibility? etc.
I guess it all depends how you look at your life. We can take a reactive ( or less ) approach to life and health. In this scenario you are always putting out fires. You are kind of going with the flow. But who's flow? You are always worried about catching the next disease or how to cure it. It can be a scary way to live because you have no control. It's fear based and it can cause one to just run in place for years. You are basically running away from disease and trying to figure out how to get rid of your new ailment.
There is nothing wrong with addressing how you feel on a day to day basis. But, to be really healthy and bounce back quick to the stresses of daily life takes a subtle shift of your focus.
We can easily shift our focus from 'running away', to 'moving toward'. 'Moving toward' is a proactive (more) approach to life and health. You may think its prevention but its not. Its the mind-set of 'what can I do today to build health' in my body and life. For example; instead of exercising regularly to prevent bad health, you exercise to build health and power! Instead of eating well to prevent cancer, you eat well to build health and power. The basic fact is - disease cannot exist in a healthy body!
This pertains to what I do for a living also. Most people go to the chiropractor because they have an ache or a pain they want to get rid of. In other words, they want less of something. There is nothing wrong with that because we all want to feel better. However, what most people don't know, is that chiropractic adjustments will add more power to your nerve system. Another fact that most people don't know is that 90 percent of your nerves are for function, no pain. For example, your stomach, , your pancreas , liver, kidneys are performing hundreds of functions without your conscious control.
Everything we do affects our spine so some degree. Chiropractic adjustments keep the spine working properly which keeps your nerve system working better. This allows us to have more energy. more vitality and more health.

Chiropractic and Energy
Energy. We can't live well without it. Everyone has a better, productive, happier day when they are more energetic!
Every cell in the body (trillions) is a tiny natural energy generator. At the basic chemical level, the body uses energy to power cellular functions with ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate). ATP is the power molecule generated during cellular respiration. Almost every muscle contraction in the body is powered by ATP. So how do we produce ATP? From glucose, lipids and sometimes amino acids from our everyday food.
Glucose is stored in the liver and muscles and is always available for our body's energy production. Did you know that glucose in the blood is carefully monitored by the nerve system? The body has to maintain an average of 70 - 110mg/dl.of glucose in the blood. When blood glucose rises, the hormone insulin is released. Insulin will increase the rate of glucose transport into the cells. Our Energy depends upon this mechanism to work.
It's the nerve system that monitors and coordinates all of these processes. The release of insulin is carefully controlled and timed by the nerve system. The nerve system is protected by hard bone, which is your spine. And here is the point - Chiropractic deals with the relationship between the bones of the spine and the nerve system. Spinal misalignments (called subluxations) interfere with the function of the nerve system and therefore will affect the body's energy production in some way. How much effect it will have is an individual experience. However, your nerve system simply works better without these subluxations.
This is just one example, out of the many thousands of examples, that illustrate the power of your nerves!
Get your spine checked and adjusted as often as possible. Your nerves will thank you for it!

The Power of Decisions
The following is a great quote from Anthony Robbins: "It's not what we do once in a while that counts, but our consistent actions. And what is the father of all action? What ultimately determines who we become and where we go in life? The answer is our decisions. It's in these moments that our destiny is shaped. More than anything else, I believe our decisions - not the conditions of our lives - determine our destiny."
Everything we do counts. We make hundreds of decisions a day. Some are tiny and unconscious and some are huge and life changing. But in my opinion, most are small decisions that do not seem life changing. We decide to brush our teeth, to eat a high fiber breakfast, or to exercise. We decide to turn right or take that other route to work or school. We decide to make a call or not to make a call. All day long we make these types of decisions. THEY ALL COUNT! That's good news because we can take control of our lives from moment to moment.
Health is the same way. You are in control of your lifestyle. Get informed, decide on a plan, and take action. Take the tortoise approach to health. You cannot make major changes in a week or for some, a month. Make a decision to consistently build your health one month at a time! Make a decision to get your spine checked more regularly instead of waiting for symptoms. Your body will thank you for it.

*Feeling Good*
*We all want to feel good. Don't we?! In fact, to a certain extent, how we feel about a thing or situation helps determine how we act. Feeling good is a basic human emotion and a powerful driving force. It is a basic human need to feel good and want to be healthy. But there is a key factor missing for some people. It seems that the busier you are (for example, too many shifts, working doubles, family and kids) the more important this key is.
So here's the key - BALANCE. Feeling good is about balance. We need to balance the things we know are bad for us, but make us feel good, with the natural things that we don't do enough of and we know are good for us. I am a big advocate of balance and I know the busier you are the tougher it its. It's easy to reach for a cocktail at the end of a busy shift than to listen to a relaxing meditation tape. It's easier to stop at a fast food restaurant than prepare a healthy balanced meal at home. It's easier to reach for a candy bar than a piece of fruit.
So here is my take. I am NOT and advocate of sudden change when it comes to health. We all want to feel good. Enjoy the things that make you feel good that you know are not really good for you. Then, slowly add balance to your life. Learn about things that help you feel good but are not instantaneous. Things such as exercise, deep breathing, stretching, really good nutritious food, supplements and sleep to name a few. Don't try to be perfect because feeling good naturally takes a little longer.
And one more thing, take care of your spine. It protects the nerve system which is the powerhouse of the body. The brain stores some of the best natural 'feel good' chemicals known. The release of these chemicals are coordinated by the nerve system. *Chiropractic adjustments help remove interference from the nerve system which allows your entire body to work better.*
