What is Straight Chiropractic?
If you ask anyone on the street what chiropractic is. . . . believe me . . . they'll tell you. The public already knows what it is. . . "fixing bad backs and stiff necks" . Can you blame them? Just take a look how chiropractors advertise. . .. .. . neck pain, back pain, sciatica, car accidents. . . . etc. Now, this blog is not about judging how anyone practices chiropractic. Our scope of practice allows us to use a variety of procedures in the office - adjustments, physiological therapeutics, acupuncture, heat, ice, traction, etc.. And any procedure performed in the office within the scope of practice is legally fine. However, do you think this may confuse the public as to - - What is chiropractic?
There are a few ways to define chiropractic, but I like to keep it in really simple terms.
Chiropractic is a science, a philosophy, and an art that deals with the relationship between the bones of the vertebral column(the spine) and the nerve system. It is based on the premise that the body is a self-regulating and self-healing organism. The objective is to correct vertebral subluxations to remove nerve interference so the body can heal and work better from the inside out.

And I'm sure there are more.
Do you think the average person new to a chiropractor's office is exposed to the above definition? I don't think so. They come in with their problem. Their problem is addressed, discussed, analyzed , explained and treated. Maybe chiropractic is part of the treatment, but maybe it's not. I've heard of people going to a chiropractor for months and not receive a chiropractic adjustment.
So, if this patient's problem went away then . . . wow. . . chiropractic worked and then they stop coming in. And if the problem didn't go away . . . oh well. . . I tried chiropractic. . . it didn't work for me. . . and they stop coming in. Either way . . . they stopped coming in. And now, they'll be subluxated for the rest of their life. The profession as a whole is not telling the public the powerful truths about what we do!
With straight chiropractic we take a different approach.
Straight chiropractic's only focus is to analyze , locate and adjust vertebral subluxations simply because they exist! It is non-therapeutic in nature. The only tool used to correct vertebral subluxations is a chiropractic adjustment. Every human being needs this service, and I recommend that every human being get their spine checked a minimum of once a week for LIFE! My fee system and office procedures reflect these recommendations.
Vertebral subluxations are dangerous. They put pressure on the brain and spinal cord and they are caused by every day stress. These spinal misalignments interfere with the messages from the brain to the body and they may never cause symptoms. And no matter what is going on in your life, your body will benefit from this service.
But we are still missing something here. There is a metaphysical component to all this.
What really controls the body? Is it the nervous system?
What is the difference between someone who is alive and a corpse? They both have a brain and spinal cord!
